I can’t even believe this was the first time I ever even attempted to make French Toast. Perfection, all the way around! As you may know by now, I am not always traditional when it comes to creating my recipes. Love doing things just a bit different and sometimes, with a little spin.

Typically, French toast is make with Challah bread, Brioche, and sometimes Sourdough..not mine! I ventured into my favorite Italian store yesterday, Delallo, and bought a loaf of their freshly baked Talonica bread. Think a big crusty bread, with just the perfect about of holes…OMG! Guess what? You can order online from Delallo by clicking here! Be sure to check out all of their amazing products! This bread created the best French Toast!

I should probably tell you about my other little spin…I cooked up some bacon and used a bit of the leftover bacon fat to fry up the French Toast…there…I said it, and did it…and it was freaking amazing!

As mentioned above, I had cooked up a pound of bacon earlier and reserved the bacon fat because I knew I wanted to use the fat to fry up the French Toast. You can substitute any other oil, or even butter…not sure why you would…but you can! HaHa! Heat up fat in a nonstick skillet or cast iron pan.

In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, cream, vanilla, and cinnamon.

Take a slice of bread and soak….coating all sides. Place on skillet and brown on both sides. Repeat for remaining slices.

To serve, butter each piece of French Toast, top with a dusting of confectioner’s sugar, a drizzling of maple syrup and a side of crispy bacon! You can even add fresh fruit. ENJOY!

LET’S GET SOCIAL!

I am more than just recipes. I love fashion and style too! Most importantly, I love my Family (my Hubby and my Fur Babies). My Husband (aka my “Kitchen Bitch”) means the world to me. He’s pretty damn cool too. Not only is he one of the nicest guys you will ever meet, he also has had a lengthy career in professional hockey. Not only winning two Stanley Cups with the Pittsburgh Penguins in the early ’90’s, but most recently winning the Calder Cup with the Charlotte Checkers, amongst many other accolades. If you live in Charlotte and play hockey, or have a family member who plays, be sure to contact him!

Our life has changed dramatically in the past few years with the passing of our two goldendoodles, Vegas and Viva. We were lucky enough to have Vegas for five years (totally wish it was longer). Most recently, losing our Viva to a brain tumor in July of 2020. We welcomed our mini goldendoodle 7, almost seven years ago. We just added the amazing Hazel! Of course, I am always posting tons and tons of photos! Be sure to check out my recipe for Pet Bone Broth! This broth is super rich in nutrients and will provide your pet with a multitude of health benefits!
