Ingredients
- Ground Beef: Easily substitute with ground chicken or turkey for a leaner option. Use ground pork or a plant-based ground meat for different flavor profiles.
- Tortilla Chips: Substitute with whole-grain or baked tortilla chips for a healthier choice. Pita chips or vegetable chips can also be used for a unique twist.
- Heavy Whipping Cream: Half-and-half or whole milk can be used for a lighter sauce. Coconut cream or cashew cream are good dairy-free options.
- Shredded Cheddar Cheese: Any melting cheese, like Monterey Jack or mozzarella, can be used. Dairy-free cheese shreds are available for a vegan option.
- Jarred Sliced Jalapeños: Fresh jalapeños or pickled banana peppers can be substituted. For less heat, use “no heat” jarred jalapeños.

- Stir in ketchup, water, mustard and Worcestershire sauce. Mix well and simmer over medium-low heat.
- Meanwhile, prepare the cheese sauce. In a saucepan, melt butter and whisk in flour. Cook for a few minutes to remove the raw flour taste.
