Time, Freedom, and Choice

Got a minute? I’d like to talk with you about time…:-)

What time is it where you are? You probably answer that with something like “it’s 8:05 am” or “daytime” or “party time!” or “it’s time to get busy, I’ve got so much to do…”. But take a little closer look at that question…”What time is it WHERE YOU ARE?” Notice that our answer will totally relate to WHERE WE ARE, both physically and mentally!

So where are YOU, right now, physically and mentally? Exactly where you want to be, right? Ok, maybe not :-) . But would you agree that you couldn’t be anywhere else, right at this moment? That’s called awareness of WHAT IS. Notice I didn’t say acceptance of what is, ‘cuz that’s a whole ‘nother ball game! (which meditation helps me with) And I don’t mean acceptance in the sense of “it’s never gonna change” either…

So compare where you are right now with where you’ve been, and where you think you’re going. Ha! You can’t NOT do that, right? Why is that? Because some WHERE on your journey in life you started developing this weird thing called “time awareness”! Babies don’t seem to have it, some rare adults like Zen masters apppear not to be concerned with it, and many older adults (especially the Alzheimer’s/dementia crowd) don’t seem to have a need for it either…

How much time awareness do you have? Maybe a better question is “How much time awareness do you need”? But that question might get us sidetracked…;-)

You have the same amount of time every day that I have, right? You know: 24hrs, or 1440 minutes, or 86,400 seconds…ad infinitum. And you get to choose exactly how to spend each nanosecond, just like I do. (Don’t give me that “wait a minute Jim, there are some things I HAVE to do that aren’t really a choice…” BULLSHIT, I SAY! Everything you do with your time is a CHOICE!)

So what you CHOOSE to do with your 24 hrs a day is totally up to you! Sure, all of us have our dreaded “have to’s”. So a question I asked a while back was “how can I reduce or eliminate those have to’s, maybe change some of them into WANT TO’S, or just in general get more FREEDOM OF CHOICE with how I play with my 24 hours?”.

Here’s one of the answers I came up with: http://portableempirecoaching.com/ It’s a group of good folks doing just that–learning how to get more FREEDOM OF CHOICE with their 24 hour daily allotment of time! Pat O’Bryan is the coach, and he’s figured that out, and really enjoys teaching it to us. To get an idea of what you’ll actually learn in Pat’s personal coaching, check out this web page: http://portableempirecoaching.com/products.html Especially make sure you check out that “Enlightenment in 15 Minutes a Day?” thing…that’s MY product! :-)

Who knows, maybe you can join us and have “more time” to do fun things like this:

  1. Jim, I love the video. Made me want to cut down a tree or two. However, my neighbors have made me promise not to do that after the last incident (really, nobody was hurt).

Before I read this post, I woke up this morning with an increased awareness of time. Funny how that works.

Make every moment count! Thank you!
